What is The Journey?

The Journey is a short course for climate innovation and entrepreneurship.  It offers a unique combination of climate knowledge and hands-on business experience.

The Journey  provides climate change knowledge combined with entrepreneurship skills, allowing you to create a business model which will help our environment.

The Journey includes courses, lectures, case studies, site visits, practical workshops, business coaching and collaboration for experiential learning and culminates in pitches to an investor panel.

The Journey also includes a physical journey.  The European model involves travelling to several different countries during the course.

Climate-KIC Australia will offer The Journey in Australia in July 2018, building on the European model and adapted for Australia.

Delivered by staff from Australian university partners with support from the European Climate-KIC Education team, overall Journey coordination, program management will be provided by Climate-KIC Australia.

What does The Journey Offer?

The Journey will take you and 29 other budding climate change entrepreneurs on a three-week journey across Victoria. From validating an idea to understanding the market, structuring a business, and building a team, The Journey gears you up for the world of climate entrepreneurship. Get the tools to make an impact on the global effort to find solutions to climate change, and become an entrepreneur! The Journey will provide you with first-class opportunities to:

• Network with and relate personally to like-minded peers at all career levels and from diverse disciplines;

• Meet the people who matter and can inspire in business, academia and the public sector, including entrepreneurs putting their ideas into practice;

• Explore climate change in its scientific, environmental, social, and economic contexts;

• Work in a hands-on way in multidisciplinary teams supported by business coaches to develop and pitch your own ideas as potential business ventures tackling climate change.

The Journey 2018 Details

Locations Melbourne, Wye River (Great Ocean Rd), Melbourne
Dates 1st – 20th July 2018
Who can apply Honours and postgraduate students, and early career professionals with an interest in climate change and entrepreneurship.
Cost $1350* inclusive of all accommodation, education, workshops, site visits and most meals whilst on The Journey.
Submission deadline  Wednesday 30th May at 11.55pm AEST

 

* With generous support from The Victorian Government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning up to ten scholarship places will be made available to Victorian applicants.
